5 year Women in the Arts research project

We’re delighted to share the findings from the first survey in the 5 year Women in the Arts research project, the first major project of the new organisations supporting women working in the arts, Women in the Arts and Women in Theatre, and the first 5 year research project to look solely at women working across the arts in the UK.

The research project follows the 5 year Women in Theatre research project, which looked at the experiences of thousands of women working in theatre and whose partners included The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, Equity, WOW, Black Womxn in Theatre, ERA 50:50, the Women in Theatre Lab and others.

Outcomes from the 5 year Women in Theatre research project were the new organisations and the agreement from Arts Council England to launch a year long taskforce, the first time Arts Council England had agreed to take action on this issue in the five years of the research project (and longer).

The new Women in the Arts research project, which looks at women working across the arts, has the same group of partners plus new organisations working in other arts forms including Fashion Roundtable, the leading policy think tank and the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Fashion.
